Beautiful Backyard Deer

We are so blessed to live in a part of the country where deer wander freely through our backyard. Some people feed the birds, stray cats or squirrels...we feed the deer. Unfortunately, they like to eat our hostas and tulips. One summer they ate my kids sunflowers that they were growing for a local contest. One night the sunflowers were there, large heads bowing, the next morning they were gone, as if they never existed. Poor kids. They got over it though.

Decorating with Mirrors

When re doing my daughter's room, I was looking for something unique to decorate the walls with. She wanted the "Pottery Barn" look but we are on a "Walmart" budget. Upon scouring the discount box stores, I found a set of 7 round mirrors of various sizes for about $30. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them until I got home. My daughter's new curtain has large flower imprints on them and I thought it would look cool if I copied that design and added it to the wall. Very simple but came out looking, well...Pottery Barnish!

Bathroom Remodel Before...

BEFORE

The bathroom had parque flooring on the vanity as well as the floor. It was dark, worn out and just plain ugly. The walls were covered in a yellow flowery paper that was outdated and dirty. There was tile on the walls that was falling off in spots. It was the same color as the bathtub, sinks and toilet.

Even though there was a huge radiator in the bathroom, it was always freezing. There was a draft coming in through the built in chest of draws. We ended up removing the radiator, insulating the whole room and now, without heat, the room stays cozy.

Here we go...

For years now, I have been a voyeur, enjoying other blogs that detail home repairs, updates and renovations. I have spent countless hours pouring over pictures of kitchen re dos and bathroom guts, enjoying other peoples success stories and failure's. I am hoping that I can create a blog that others will find as much pleasure in as I have found visiting other sites. So without further tado...dah-ta-dah-dah...here it is!
